My Simple Joys

Brookie and I were looking at my wedding pictures. She pointed out all the people she recognized. Then she looked at me with a very sad frown and said, "I wanted to come to your wedding party!" I told her that she was still in heaven and that she may have watched but that she didn't remember.

There is no question the unconditional love Kaden has for Tanner.  He has started begging to sleep with him.  Occasionally when I'm heading on bedtime alone, I'll give in. Tanner eats it up just staring at his little buddy.  Kaden always requests that Tanner puts on his primary music, and then they snuggle. Surprisingly Kaden falls right to sleep with him.  He doesn't dare get out because he knows that it means straight to the crib. In a few months Kaden will be sharing a room with Tanner and sleep on the bunk beds. I can guess that we didn't need bunks because Kaden is going to want to be with Tanner on the same bed. I'm so glad they love each other so much. b I document this so in about ten years when they fight I'll pull this out!

At any given trip to the Dr., store, outing we exit the freeway and see homeless men or women.  A couple years ago Tanner started asking why they were there?  What they wanted, etc? So Dad and I decided that we'd teach the kids early on that indeed these people are strangers but that they are still Heavenly Father's children and our brothers and sisters.  So what ever pre-wrapped snack that we have in the car at the time, we give away to them (It's usually a granola bars or fruit leather). Recently we were on a trip, I stopped at Miguels Jr. to get some burritos.  On the way home we saw someone homeless.  Brookie said, "I'm going to give my burrito away to someone that is hungry!"  Brookie was born compassionate and loving.  She teaches us so much. She blesses us each day!

Recently my Grandma Velma Matthews died.  Brookie has expressed how much she misses her.  I told her how much fun Grandma's having with all our relatives that have passed away and that live with Heavenly Father again.  She concentrated for a while and then said, "Yeah, I think my grandma's and grandpa's sleep on all the clouds." She says how she'd like to visit Heaven. I assured her that she'll get to some day long from now and that I need here to stick around in our family.

Kadster is almost two and we all can't believe it.  He's been our skinny bones for so long that it's been easier convincing ourselves to believe that he's still our baby.   He attempts to repeat nearly any words we say. Tanner and I are the best interpreters.  Daddy is Kaden's favorite.  He fights for Daddy's attention everyday.  If dad steps in the bathroom or the garage, Kaden freaks and repeatedly says, "My da-da, my da-da, my da-da". Dad loves being so popular.
