Oh I love my "Simple Joys"

Kaden has had his share of time-outs. He isn't completely perfect. He occasionally pinches when he's mad. His time-outs are about a minute long. Every time Tanner's around when Kaden is being disciplined, Tanner begs that I don't punish him and reminds me that he's just a baby so he shouldn't have time-outs and that I need to be nice.

When I told the kids we were going on a family date to Newport Beach Temple, the first thing Brookie asked was..."Can I go in the temple? " and then... "Can I get married when we go?"
Then she had the re-occurring idea that Tanner can be her husband. She's always so sweet to want Tanner to be her husband. I tell her that she's sealed to him anyways but can not marry him. She doesn't like that!

On the way to school Tanner asked, " How will I find you in Heaven after you and Daddy die?" If you both die will Grandma take me to his cousin Samuel's house? I try my best to reassure him that everything would work out.

Kaden is talking up a storm. When ever we ask the kids a question he smiles and answers. "I do!" His new favorite words are: Yes, push, ucker (Sucker) M&m&m&m, Peash (Peach), Choo-Choo, Cocot (Coconut), Muk-a-Muk (Milk). Oter (water), Jump-a. Nanner (Tanner), and Sissy.

Everyday Brookie asks to wear my jewelry. Recently she asked if she could wear my wedding ring. She got upset when the answer was no. She got frustrated and said, "I just want a wedding ring forever like you!!!"

Tanner gave his first talk in primary and did great! I helped him write it. And we only reviewed it twice before he could read the whole talk without help. He's reading so well. It's amazing to see the progress over the last few months. He also was just recognized at school for passing off all the first grade sight words. While at the assembly he was surprised with a Principals award for doing excellent in all academic areas! We are so proud of Tanner and grateful for him achievements.

Kaden thinks he loves to jump on the trampoline. When Dad comes home he runs up to him and says, "Jump-a, Jump-a", demands that Dad picks him up immediately and then lunges for the back door. So more often than not, Dad takes him out to jump. But when they get on the trampoline, Kaden gets scared and holds on tight while Dad jumps. Dad trys to encourage him to jump or even stand alone on the tramp and he usually refuses. Kaden's so silly but we love watching him do this ritual. Kaden also loves to wrestle. We have to be extra careful when we are sitting or laying on the floor. From out of no where, he'll run and jump or climb on us and then dives off of us. He's great at competing for attention.

Brooklyn isn't in pre-school yet, we do work together at home. She loves tracing numbers, letters and writing most of her name. She likes to write Brook without the lyn. I never wanted her to be called Brook especially this young. Maybe when she's a teenager. So she says that it's because it's hard to write the Y. That is true. Hopefully we will accomplish that soon. She also loves coloring anything and everything. She can make any paper, list of things to do or receipt just beautiful. She especially likes to color something to send to her Uncle Will-Woo that is on his mission.

When Kaden is getting ready for bed, he often calls for his "Nanner" or "Sissy" to come give hugs and kisses. Sometimes he's not content with that and will try his best to weasel his way down the hall to snuggle them in their beds. He's so sweet that he usually gets away with it. We are so blessed that they all love each other unconditionally.

Tanner is getting so old, it's really a bitter sweet thing for me. The other day I was cuddling with him. Realizing how big he is now, I got some tears in my eyes and told him that I love that he's growing up but that I wish he could live with me forever. He hugged me, smiled and said "Mom, don't worry when I grow up, I'll live in your neighborhood. If someone will sale their house to me. I'll have to get an estimate right?" I told him how much I'd love for him to be my neighbor, but that I'd be happy as long as he's making good choices in his life. So it would be great if he went away to college and serve his mission as long as he came back and lived close enough that I could drive to visit.

Brooklyn is very girlie and loves dress up, jewelry, make-up and hair accessories. On the other hand she also loves the dirt like her brothers. While she was wearing her princess shoes and dress she recently turned over some rocks in the yard to find her newest earth worm pets . She came in the house so excited to show me. I tried not to freak while her little pets fell on my floor. She found a place for them to stay in the backyard. Oh good!
